Alex Dunne finally got his hands on a win, converting pole into his first victory of 2026 and a 1-2 finish for Rodin Motorsport.
Baku was chosen to host F2’s first “supersized” weekend of the year playing host to an additional Qualifying session and second Feature Race.
Formula 2 CEO, Bruno Michel, confirmed it was the only remaining round on the calendar with enough spare track time to accommodate it, as Formula 2 was the sole support category at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Dunne converted pole position to take victory on Friday afternoon at the Baku City Circuit, ahead of teammate Martinius Stenshorne, who returned to the Formula 2 podium for the first time since the Belgium Sprint Race, in July.
Dino Beganovic made it a third successive Formula 2 podium, with third, after winning the Sprint Race, earlier on Friday, in a circuit the Ferrari junior has gone well at on both trips to the Azerbaijani capital.
